Welcome to Trish Nugent Mosaic Art, where each piece is a work of art designed to inspire and impress. For over 20 years, I have been creating mosaics that draw inspiration from the natural world. From small, intricate pieces to large installations, my art is a celebration of the beauty and wonder of nature. I work with a variety of materials and techniques to create unique pieces that are all one-of-a-kind.   1. Idea. I'd love to do oak trees.

  2. Research. Take a walk. Search internet for images.

  3. Hmm. Valley Oak, Live Oak, large, small, what season?

  4. Go to clay studio. Sebarts.org. Hint: great community ceramics studio in a great community arts organization.

  5. Roll out clay. Love that clay roller!

  6. Create. Use specialized tools to cut outline of oak tree images and to incise details of bark and leaves.

  7. Pizza cutter. Use to make endless supply of geometric shaped background tiles.

  8. Add texture. Redwood cone, shell, plastic fork, toy truck tire, string, grape leaf......

  9. Wait. When dry, load in bisque kiln.

  10. Glaze. Choices, choices. Paint color details onto each tile.

  11. Glaze kiln. Load and unload.

  12. Compose. Arrange and rearrange each mosaic tile piece until I love it.

  13. Mortar, grout and seal.

  14. Voila! Ready to share.
